Gluck

Gluck is asteroid #7624 and also known as 1251 T-1 and as 1995 UZ6. He belongs to the Hirayama-family Eos in the Asteroid Main Belt and was discovered at the Palomar Observatory. This is what the astronomy could add to the meaning and relevance of this asteroid.

Gluck is named after a German composer, who lived from 1714 until 1787. His full name is Christoph Willibald von Gluck. He should have become a forester like his father. He told the story that he ran away from home because of that and lived from making music. He composed 17 symphonies and 107 operas. Pope Benedict XIV. made him a Knight of the Golden Spur. Despite the military heritage of the title was it given to honor artists. Christoph Willibald von Gluck called himself from then on Christoph Willibald Ritter von Gluck because the title was connected with the right to add Ritter von to a name. Only few people made use of this right. The title gave and gives also the right to enter a Catholic Church on horseback. It is impossible (at least for me) to figure out whether Christoph Willibald Ritter von Gluck made use of this right too or if anybody else does.

The name Gluck is a Jewish name. It is nowadays most frequently found in the USA and with most density in Israel. Gluck is translatable and means fortunate one. The name is related with the English word luck, the German word Glück, and the Yiddish word Glick. Glück and Glick both mean not luck, but good luck exclusively.

The asteroid Gluck caught my attention because he is in my own natal chart conjunct the midheaven. So Gluck should have something to do with my vocation. Hence I can exclude that Gluck shows any talent as composer or musician. Perhaps he shows such a talent in natal charts, where he is conjunct Pallas. But I, although I have passionate musicians among my relatives, can neither hit a tone pitch nor hold a rhythm. So any possible meaning of Gluck in this manner must be excluded. Being fortunate, as the meaning of the name says, can’t already by logic denote a vocation or anything related with it. I’m also not known as a great artist, so I certainly won’t get an award for it. The only thing in Gluck’s life, that I can relate with, is that he should have become a forester. I inherited a small plot of timberland and as I went to have a look at it, I wasn’t able to find it. I have only a rough idea, where it is. Although I had been to there before, when I was a child. If I found my plot of timberland, then it would in any case still be too small to become a professional forester with it. So Gluck conjunct my midheaven shows me as a failed or baffled forester.
