Concordia

Concordia is asteroid #58 and also known as 1928 XE (although discovered in 1860). Concordia was discovered by (Karl Theodor) Robert Luther and upon his request named by Karl Christian Bruhns. Concordia is, with an orbit characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.70 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.04, a period of revolution of 1 620 days, and an inclination of 5.1 degrees, a common Main Belt Asteroid, although of the type C and with a diameter of 107 km fairly large.

Concordia is named after the Roman goddess of harmony. Concordia is a personified virtue. The Romans had some of these. Pax or Iustitia also belong to them. Concordia guaranteed the like-mindedness of the Romans and held marriages as well as the whole society together.

So as astrological forces Pax, Justitia, and Concordia are the Roman and hence more mature versions of the Greek sisters Irene, Dike, and Eunomia, although Homonoia (Ὁμόνοια) and Harmonia (Ἁρμονία) are the more exactly matching counterparts of Concordia. So Concordia is an opposing force to Eris. While the Greek astrological forces rather represent outer circumstances, Concordia represents to resist strife willfully.
