Jinxiuzhonghua

Jinxiuzhonghua is asteroid #3088 and also known as 1981 UX9. Jinxiuzhonghua was discovered “by” (as if self-operating) the Purple Mountain Observatory (so most likely by an unknown astronomer) or Zĭjīnshān-Tiānwéntái (紫金山天文台) at Nánjīng (南京), Jiāngsū (江蘇 / 江苏), People’s Republic of China. Jinxiuzhonghua’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 3.02 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.05, a period of revolution of 1 914 days, and an inclination of 10.3 degrees. Jinxiuzhonghua is a member of the Hirayama-family Eos.

The Chinese name of the asteroid #3088 is Jǐnxiù-Zhōnghuá-Xīng (锦绣中华星) because Jinxiuzhonghua is named after a Chinese theme park bearing the name Splendid China Folk Village in English and Jǐnxiù-Zhōnghuá-Mínsú-Cūn (锦绣中华民俗村) in Chinese. Jǐnxiù-Zhōnghuá-Mínsú-Cūn (锦绣中华民俗村) is the largest theme park in China and its theme is China. The theme park consists of more than hundred major tourist attractions miniaturized and laid out according to the map of China. Exclusively the official naming citation wants to make Jǐnxiù-Zhōnghuá-Mínsú-Cūn (锦绣中华民俗村) the largest miniature scenic spot in the world. Other sources don’t support this unsubstantiated claim. It is the largest miniature scenic spot in China. Unusual for such a large tourist attraction, Jǐnxiù-Zhōnghuá-Mínsú-Cūn (锦绣中华民俗村) has a website only in Chinese. But Wikipedia has got an article in English on this theme park.

Jǐnxiù-Zhōnghuá-Mínsú-Cūn (锦绣中华民俗村) is a great name for a theme park and also a great idea. But naming an asteroid after it? There must be a great reason for it if our world isn’t just random! It’s a bit confusing to me that Jinxiuzhonghua is an asteroid of the distal section of the Asteroid Main Belt, needing more than five years for completing traveling around the Sun one time. Jǐnxiù-Zhōnghuá-Mínsú-Cūn (锦绣中华民俗村) makes possible to see during one day all the scenic spots, which would have required to travel through China for at least several weeks in order to see them all. So a fast asteroid with such a name would hint to hurrying very much. But such a slow asteroid can only indicate that you only think that you would save time and still see everything. Having a look at a miniature simply isn’t the same as visiting an original historic site! So Jinxiuzhonghua primarily represents substitutes. Maybe also theme parks. Jinxiuzhonghua prominent in an astrological chart can also be understood as the warning that you shouldn’t confuse an illusion or a substitute with a real experience. The nature of the experience in question will of course decide which one is better.
