The Creator of the universe from time to time still demonstrates that He controls everything. Maybe. I watched a televised interview with an American, who in the name of his christian faith messed with North-Korean authorities while in North Korea. So he became an inmate in a North Korean prison.

While he was in pre-trial confinement, he dreamed about certain foods. He always at the next day got exactly the food, that he dreamed about. God thus demonstrated to him that He cared about him and was in control of everything. To me remains unclear whether dream meant a desire or a forecast. While this makes some difference, the foods, which the interviewed guy mentioned, seemed to be quite tasty and of good quality for a prison, especially a for a prison in North Korea.

But while serving his sentence after the trial, things changed! One of the guards did daily tell him that he for the rest of his life will stay and never get free. Maybe because of this North-Korean expectation, despite American diplomats worked at getting him free, he had to feel that North Korea indeed is too poor for correctly providing for its prisoners. He didn’t anymore wonder about the food’s quality, but about whether he would get enough to eat. While serving his sentence, he from time to time had to get hospitalized because of the effects of malnutrition. He could give the interview only because the American diplomats some day eventually got him free.

The guy always believed that God cared about him. But I can only together with the North-Korean guard wonder how he could believe this even after getting hospitalized due to malnutrition. The American interpreted the foods, that he got during his pre-trial confinement, as a proof of God caring for him. But it could simply have been North-Korean politics. American diplomats had already worked at getting him free. So previous to the sentence, North-Korean authorities could have been unsure whether this guy would return to the USA and report there about the conditions in North Korea. The North-Korean government always tries to present North Korea from the best side and tries to hide North Korea’s poverty. About this would nothing be miraculous.
