This is again on the same episode I already treated for the seventh part and the eighth part of this article series. Creationists in this episode looked into the Bible instead of at the fossil record. The tale of the Creation in the Bible stresses that God made a final inspection of his work and found that his work was good. The Creationists from this drew the daring conclusion that God had created the world without predators! Creationists had on their own authority decided that an animal mustn’t devour another and this simply can’t happen in a good world. So the world, in which humans currently live and in which plenty of predators exist, can’t be the world, which God created! This idea would make the tale of the Creation in the Bible irrelevant and so is theologically challenging. The Creationists, in spite of being Evangelicals, joined the Catholic position and believe that the world was once perfect, but then broke somehow and the almighty and omniscient God can’t repair it because he still didn’t figure out what went wrong. While the Catholic Church teaches this in order to stress that paradise still has to wait until after Judgement Day, the Evangelical Creationists teach it to the purpose to reason extinction events.
Too many creatures had become too evil, so God sent the flood, which killed almost everything. During the Geological Age of the dinosaurs lived many predators, so God also back then decided that some extinction should take place. But some Creationists gave in that also herbivores and even plants got extinct. So I can only wonder how such an idea is able to convince certain people.
An especially funny idea was from where the predators came. Because God created a perfect world, so God, as the Creationists had decided, didn’t create predators. So the predators must have evolved from other animals!!! This finally taught me who those Evolutionists, who by Creationists get so frequently mentioned, really are: A fraction amidst the Creationists! (I searched them only amidst scientists and hence had concluded that they wouldn’t exist.)
