Wikipedia is asteroid #274301 and also known as 2008 QH₂₄. Wikipedia’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.38 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.15, a period of revolution of 1’344 days, and an inclination of 6.7 degrees. 2008 QH₂₄ was in 2008 discovered at the Andrushivka Astronomical Observatory (Андрушівська астрономічна обсерваторія), Andrushivka (Андрушівка), Berdychiv Raion (Бердичівський район), Zhytomyr Oblast/ Zhytomyrska oblast (Житомирська область), Ukraine (Україна). This observatory also bears the name “July Morning” («Липневий ранок»), was built from 1998 until 2001, opened in 2001, and is the private observatory of the Ukrainian astronomer Yuri Mikolaiovich Ivashchenko (Юрій Миколайович Іващенко), who specialized in discovering asteroids. Most of the asteroids discovered at his private observatory get named after Ukrainian citizens or Ukrainian places. 2008 QH₂₄ has an absolute magnitude (brightness) of 16.99 mag and perhaps (still disputed) belongs to the Hirayama-family Vesta. 2008 QH₂₄ was precovered as 1997 RO₄ during the course of the OCA-DLR Asteroid Survey at the French Observatoire de Calern (IAU-Code 910) and as 2007 FK₃₄ at the Steward Observatory (IAU-Code 691) as well as during the course of the Mount Lemmon Survey at the Mount Lemmon Observatory (IAU-Code G96).

2008 QH₂₄ in 2013 got the name Wikipedia. This name was an idea of the Wikimedia chapter Wikimedia Ukraine board member Andrij Makucha. Albeit Yuri Mikolaiovich Ivashchenko (Юрій Миколайович Іващенко), the head of the observatory, proposed the name to the IAU. The asteroid Wikipedia is named after the online encyclopedia with the same name, that was made from the Hawaiian word wikiwiki = fast and the English word encyclopedia. So the celestial body Wikipedia is a representative of online encyclopedias.
