Krok is asteroid #3102 and also known as 1981 QA. Krok is a Near-Earth Asteroid of the Amor group and a Mars-orbit-crosser. Krok is a very slow rotator, needing around one-hundred-and-fifty hours for a full rotation in spite of a diameter of only 1.5 km and the rotation probably is retrograde. Krok’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.15 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.45, a period of revolution of 1’153 days, and an inclination of 8.4 degrees. Krok is of the type QRS, a rare type, in the Tholen classification, but of the boring type S in the SMASS II classification. Krok was discovered by the Slovak astronomer Ladislav Brožek at the Kleť Observatory (Hvězdárna Kleť ).

Krok is since 1994 named after Croccus or Krok from Bohemian/ Czech mythology. This Krok is called a duke, was a judge and a leader of the Czech people. The Book of Judges is the seventh book in the Old Testament, while the First and Second Book of Kings are the tenth and eleventh book in the Old Testament. The time of the judges precedes the time of the kings and this probably got adopted into Czech mythology, which was written in christian times. So Duke Krok has a similar role as the judges in the Old Testament (leaders of sanctuary cities, which are a really old invention) and precedes the Přemyslid dynasty of Czech royalty, that was founded by his youngest daughter. The mother of his daughters was a forest nymph.

According to the Czech historian František Palacký had King Samo been the historical role model for Duke Krok. King Samo in the seventh century of the christian calendar founded the first Slavic state, but only presumptions exist about it. Even where it was located is unknown.

Duke Krok is after Čech/ Boemus the first character of Czech mythology, whose name gets mentioned. But his tale consists only of his name, his profession and that he is the father of three daughters. These are Kazi and Teta and Libuše/ Libussa. The only role, which Duke Krok has got in Czech mythology, is to decide that Libuše will be his successor. That’s it. Duke Krok wouldn’t have been mentioned at all if not to say that he’s got those three daughters. So the asteroid Krok represents a man overshadowed by women. This gets stressed as a family dynamic if Krok is in an aspect with Kazi, Teta, or Libussa.
