Sayonisaha is asteroid #26201 and also known as 1997 GD₂₄. Sayonisaha measures approximately 2.1 km in diameter. Sayonisaha’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.44 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.09, a period of revolution of 1’395 days, and an inclination of 6.5 degrees. Sayonisaha was discovered during the course of the Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) project at the Lincoln Laboratory’s Experimental Test Site (ETS) on the White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) near Socorro, New Mexico, USA.

Sayonisaha has neither to do with Sayo nor with Sayo-hime. Sayonisaha instead is named after a Sayoni Saha, who was born in 1994 and attended Gretchen Whitney High School, Cerritos, California, USA. The asteroid got named after her, when she in 2012 became a finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search, a science competition for high-school seniors, for her behavioral and social-sciences project.
