Nephele is asteroid #431, also known 1897 DN, discovered by Auguste Charloi, of the type B, and a member of the Hirayama-family Themis in the Outer Asteroid Main Belt. Nephele is named after the cloud Nephele (Νεφέλη), that was formed by Hephaistos in Greek mythology as an image or copy or clone of Hera.
I would credit Nephele (Νεφέλη) for being the first ever mentioned clone and hence the astrological force Nephele with representing clones and the act of cloning. But when I revised Ixion, I found already that there must be more to it. Nephele and Ixion are remnants of an older religious cult. Nephele must have been the main goddess there, just as Ixion must have been the main god there. Ixion was only criminalized later in order to lower his status and replace his cult with a new religious cult. Nephele would then be a version or a different name for Dia. While Dia is the known name for Ixion’s wife, Nephele is the mother of Ixion’s children. Hence Nephele is probably the same goddess. So Nephele is the image of Hera because Hera is Dione, who is Dia, who is Nephele, who once had the place of Hera in an older religious cult. In the tale of the battle of the Centaurs against the Lapiths, appears Nephele again and turns the ground with a heavy rain into mud for giving her children an advantage. So Nephele isn’t just a clone of Hera, but capable of own actions and she acts in the way of a cloud. Nephele represents hence also rainy weather, just like Ixion, who is bound on a fiery wheel rolling through the sky, represents sunny weather.
Nephele represents humidity, moisture, dampness, clouds, fecundity, nature, motherhood. But I also don’t give up yet on the idea that Nephele represents clones because no other astrological force seems to be more suitable for this meaning.
The Raëlians claim to have cloned a female human on the 26th of December in 2002 at 11:55 (= 11:55 AM ) GMT in a not disclosed location, birth time is the time zone of London, England (51n30, 0w10). More births of clones are announced for Europe and Asia, hence the first clone was probably born in the USA and there most likely in Florida because the announcement was made from there. She has the name Eve. Her family name was also never disclosed. More striking is that no pictures of her can be found. Uploading tons of selfies is the most common behaviour of a contemporary female teenager. So where are her selfies? Maybe some could be found if her family name would be known publicly. Maybe she’s already dead. An early death of a clone after only months or even days isn’t surprising considering the state of the art in cloning currently and even more at the beginning of the century. Only with the true location of Eve’s birth could her birth time be adjusted and her natal chart be drawn. I would have liked to see whether Nephele is prominent in her natal chart. But this remains impossible in this case. Nobody cares enough about clones to document their natal charts.
This is another important factor. What is done to Nephele? She is widely ignored. But she also got victimized when Ixion got criminalized. Hence Nephele can also represent victimization, especially if it isn’t the own idea of the described person.
