Hungaria is asteroid #434, also known as 1898 DR, and was discovered by Max Wolf. Hungaria is an important asteroid because the orbital group Hungaria as well as the Hirayama-family Hungaria are named after this asteroid.
Hungaria and the Hungaria-family are of the spectral type E. The Hungaria-family is a collisional family within the Hungaria-group in the Inner Asteroid Belt. The Hungaria-family dominates the Hungaria-group.
Characteristic for the Hungaria-group is an orbital resonance of 9:2 with Jupiter. Asteroids of the Hungaria-group have a mean eccentricity of 0.08 (the eccentricity of #434 is 0.074) and orbital inclinations of between seventeen degrees and twenty-seven degrees (in the case of #434 twenty-two and a half degrees) with respect to the ecliptic. This means the inclinations are strong enough for distorted perspectives when shown in an astrological chart. You’ll have either the position in the zodiac correctly or in the house system, but not both!
In the year of the discovery of #434 was an astronomy convention held in Budapest, Hungary. The asteroid got named after the host country of this convention. Hungaria is the Latinized form of Hungary. Hungaria is hence a place name asteroid. The denoted place is a whole country. Hungaria should be only relevant to people with a connection to this country.
