Kalypso

Odysseus needs double the time to return home compared to the other Greek heroes of the Iliad. But the Odyssey doesn’t need as long as the Trojan War. Odysseus lives between them on the island Ogygia (Ὠγυγία) and hides there because he fears Poseidon’s revenge. Odysseus lives together with the nymph Kalypso (Καλυψώ) on this island for seven years. Her name means hidden. She exists only in this tale. After her are named the asteroid #53 or Kalypso and Saturn XIV or Calypso.

Saturn XIV or S/1980 S 25 is a moon of Saturn. Calypso is next-outer to Enceladus (Saturn II) and next-inner to Dione (Saturn IV). Calypso and the Saturn-moon Telesto (Saturn XIII) are trojans of Saturn’s fifth-largest natural satellite Tethys (Saturn III). These factoids would of course only be relevant if anybody lived inside the Saturn system.

The asteroid #53 is of the type XC and was discovered by the German astronomer Karl Theodor Robert Luther. Kalypso is an asteroid of the Main Asteroid Belt (main region of the Asteroid Main Belt).

The tale of Odysseus allows not any doubt that Kalypso loves him deeply. So Kalypso is astrologically most relevant where she can get into a connection with Odysseus. Except in the youngest versions of the Odyssey stays Odysseus loyal to his wife Penelope during all his time with Kalypso. So she is rather the kind of the crazy stalker. But this isn’t her main role in the tale. As her name already says, she takes care that Odysseus is hidden well. So Kalypso hints to something hidden in an astrological chart.
