Ursula is asteroid #375 and also known as 1893 AL. Ursula was discovered by Auguste Honoré Pierre Charlois at Nice Observatory. Ursula orbits the Sun in a distance from 2.8 to 3.5 Astronomical Units within five and a half years, thus belonging to the Outer Asteroid Belt. The orbit exhibits an inclination of sixteen degrees and an eccentricity of 0.11, while Ursula herself has a diameter of two-hundred-and-sixteen kilometers, an albedo of 0.05, and is of the type C or Xc, transitioning to X. Ursula is the head and parent body of a Hirayama-family consisting of more than thousand known asteroids of the types X and C. One of them is Yamatano-Orochi.
After whom Ursula is named is unknown. But it isn’t true, as the English part of the Wikipedia states, that the meaning of the name would be unknown. Ursula is Latin and the female and diminutive form of urs, which means bear. So Ursula is a little female bear.
Ursula is a not very popular, but still used female name. So the asteroid #375 is a person name asteroid representing people named Ursula. Because of the name’s meaning, Ursula can also represent people, who are short and powerful.
