Morpheus is asteroid #4197 and also known as 1982 TA. Morpheus was discovered by the American astronomer Eleanor Francis “Glo” Helin and the American geologist Eugene Merle “Gene” Shoemaker at the Palomar Observatory. Morpheus belongs to the type S and the sub-type Sq. Morpheus also belongs to the group Apollo. Morpheus crosses the Mars orbit as well as the Venus orbit.
Morpheus is a god of dreams who appears in Ovid’s “Metamorphoses”. He has the ability to mimic any human form and appear in dreams. Morpheus is also the name of one of the main characters (played by actor Laurence Fishburne) in “The Matrix” movie trilogy.

I cite the official naming quotation in the above paragraph. Ovid liked to place his characters in Greek mythology, but there is no evidence except Ovid’s “Metamorphoses”. Mentioning the Matrix movies in the official naming makes the name suspect to be chosen after the character from the movie. Morpheus is a hovercraft captain there and the person, who offers the famous red pills, which can wake you up, and the as famous blue pills, which make you forget that you live in an illusion.
Morpheus as a mythological character is one of the thousand sons of Hypnos, the Greek god of sleep. Hypnos is asteroid #14827 and I could have sworn that I published an article on this astrological force because I published an article on his Roman counterpart Somnus. But I neglected Hypnos and some more characters of Greek mythology.
(edit: I mentioned him briefly!)
Only three of the thousand sons of Hypnos are known with their names. These are Morpheus (Μορφεύς), Phobetor (Φοβήτωρ) also called Ikelos ( Ἴκελος), and Phantasos (Φάντασος). Only Morpheus is represented by a celestial body yet. The thousand sons of Hypnos are called the Óneiroi ( Ὄνειροι). This means the dreams. They are the gods of the dreams. Their mother probably is Nyx. The nameless Óneiroi ( Ὄνειροι) bring dreams to the commoners, while Morpheus, Phobetor, and Phantasos bring dreams to kings and chieftains. Phobetor appears in their dreams in the shapes of gods and of wild animals. Morpheus appears in the shapes of humans. Phantasos appears in the shapes of items and the elements of nature.
Morpheus means form, shape and is the origin of the word to morph. Morpheus in an astrological chart represents somebody, who isn’t the person, who she or he seems to be. So considering Morpheus in astrological charts makes you see through delusions or illusions. If you don’t consider Morpheus or the use of astrology at all, then the illusions, shown by the creator gods in astrological charts, continue to betray you. Making use of astrology equals ingesting the famous red pill, while ridiculing astrology equals ingesting the famous blue pill from the Matrix movie.
