On Hypersonic Weapons

American military intelligence confirmed that North Korea and China tested hypersonic missiles at the end of last August. American military intelligence also regards this as a reason to feel threatened. Together with Russia would now three countries have hypersonic missiles, most likely able to transport nuclear warheads, while no country is able to defend against hypersonic missiles and the USA, as the most likely fourth country working at hypersonic missiles, is still needing a while for drawing equal. The USA would be, although getting them as forth, the second country developing hypersonic missiles because China and North Korea got these weapons so suddenly that they must have bought them from Russia.

On the one hand American military intelligence certainly knows how to collect such data. Only China, North Korea, and Russia have hypersonic weapons. Really nobody is able to defend against them. Even Russia confirmed this and said Russia will develop a counteractive-measure while the USA develop hypersonic missiles.

On the other hand American military intelligence must have made some mistakes, which I know because they are obvious. North Korea confirmed the missile test, but the missile did miss the intended target. The Russian missile already is fully developed and hits it target! North Korea did conduct almost daily missile tests since five years. Mustn’t there be any result be expected? China on the other hand didn’t confirm a missile test, but explained to have conducted a space rocket test. The Chinese rocket indeed was launched into space and didn’t hit any target. Missile tests use to be announced in order to avoid misunderstanding such a test as an attack. The Chinese government knows this and uses to announce missile tests like every other government too. So the Chinese rocket is a dual use technology at worst. The USA should know such technology because the Titan rocket of the Cold War era was an American dual use technology. Titan rockets did bear nuclear warheads and were hiding in bunkers, but Titan rockets also brought the Voyager space probes into space. So there is no reason to doubt that China tests space technology when launching a new rocket. The Chinese government of course is well aware of the possibility of dual use of Chinese technologies and conquering space is such a new idea for the Chinese that they certainly don’t try for its own sake.

After China conducted the test, the new military alliance AUKUS, also called trilateral security partnership, got founded. This is the alliance between the UK, the USA, and Australia. The latter had to cancel its submarine vessel deal with France because of this new alliance! Then China and Russia reacted with the China-Russia Joint Sea-2021 Military Exercise and subsequent China-Russia Joint Cruise, when Chinese and Russian military vessels patrolled together through the west of the Pacific. It was the very first such maneuver in order to show that China and Russia will stand together if the AUKUS escalates the tensions. This chain of reactions could be more interesting than the tests of the hypersonic weapons themselves because some people already see both sides preparing for a nuclear war.
