Takakura is asteroid #5578 and also known as 1987 BC. Takakura is a member of the asteroid-clan Koronis/ Lacrimosa. Takakura’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.91 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.08, a period of revolution of 1 819 days, and an inclination of 2.0 degrees. Takakura was discovered by Niijima Tsuneo (新島 恒男), a Japanese farmer and amateur astronomer, and the Japanese astronomer Urata Takeshi (浦田 武) at Ojima-machi (尾島町) in the district Nitta (新田) in the prefecture Gunma (群馬) in the center of Japan.
Takakura is named after Takakura-tennō (高倉天皇), the 80th emperor of Japan. He lived on the material plane from 1161 until 1181, his reign spanned the years from 1168 through 1180. His name was Norihito-shinnō (憲仁親王) before his ascension to the Chrysanthemum Throne. He was the seventh son of Go-Shirakawa-tennō (後白河天皇), the 77th emperor of Japan. The mother of Takakura-tennō (高倉天皇) was Taira no Shigeko (平 滋子), later named Kenshunmon’in (建春門院). She was a nyōgo (女御) and thus had the second-highest rank after the empress and always had access to the emperor because this title means that she was in charge of his bedchamber. Wikipedia calls her a kōtaigō (皇太后) and gives up to find a translation, although kōtaigō (皇太后) means Empress Dowager. But this can mean almost everything in Japan. In this case it seems to mean the queen of Go-Shirakawa-tennō (後白河天皇) after his abdication. She during his reign didn’t have the rank of a court lady because her family had a too low status. She was a half-sister of Taira no Tokiko (平 時子), who was the mother of Taira no Tokuko (平 徳子), who in 1172 became the wife of Takakura-tennō (高倉天皇). Taira no Tokuko (平 徳子) later was called Kenrei-mon-in (建礼門院). The asteroid Kenreimonin is named after her. The reign of Takakura-tennō (高倉天皇) was not only rather short, but the abdicated Go-Shirakawa-tennō (後白河天皇) and Taira no Kiyomori (平 清盛), the father-in-law of Takakura-tennō (高倉天皇), were the persons, who really were in power. Takakura-tennō (高倉天皇) had four sons and three daughters. The first son was born in 1178 A.D. and named Tokohito-shinnō (言仁親王). Taira no Kiyomori (平 清盛) then, although his daughter already was the empress, undertook a putsch, took the abdicated Go-Shirakawa-tennō (後白河天皇) hostage and forced Takakura-tennō (高倉天皇) to abdicate. So Tokohito-shinnō (言仁親王) ascended the throne as Antoku-tennō (安徳天皇) in 1180 A.D. He was the 81st emperor of Japan according to the traditional order of succession. Although the reign of Takakura-tennō (高倉天皇) was rather short, his reign is divided in five eras.
The cultural memory of the Japanese knows Takakura-tennō (高倉天皇) as an emperor, who never had any real power. So I suggest exactly this as the astrological meaning of the asteroid Takakura: Lacking in the supposed power.
