Phoinix is asteroid #4543 and also known as 1989 CQ1. Phoinix is a Jupiter trojan from the Greek Camp in Jupiter’s L4, which is the Lagrange Point, which is in front of Jupiter in his orbit around the Sun. Phoinix is of the type C and exhibits an inclination of 14.7° with respect to the ecliptic. Phoinix was discovered by Carolyn Jean Spellmann Shoemaker at the Palomar Observatory.
Phoinix is named after the Greek warrior Phoínix (Φοῖνιξ), who took part in the Trojan War. Phoínix (Φοῖνιξ) was the son of Kleoboúlē (Κλεοβούλη) and Amýntōr (Ἀμύντωρ). This king loved one of his concubines, so Kleoboúlē (Κλεοβούλη), the wife of Amýntōr (Ἀμύντωρ), asked her son Phoínix (Φοῖνιξ) to seduce the concubine and bring her away from his father. Phoínix (Φοῖνιξ) seduced the concubine and had sex with her. The following strife with his father made Phoínix (Φοῖνιξ) flee from his home to Phthía (Φθία), where he became a vassal of King Pēleús (Πηλεύς), who is the father of Achilleus (Ἀχιλλεύς), after whom the asteroid Achilles is named. Amýntōr (Ἀμύντωρ) cursed Phoínix (Φοῖνιξ), so that he had to stay childless. In later variants, Phoínix (Φοῖνιξ) got blinded, but healed by Chiron. Because Phoínix (Φοῖνιξ) was childless, so he accepted Achilleus (Ἀχιλλεύς) as his own son, when Pēleús (Πηλεύς) asked Phoínix (Φοῖνιξ) to become a mentor of Achilleus (Ἀχιλλεύς). When Phoínix (Φοῖνιξ) went to the Trojan War, he made a stopover at the place of Odysseus and persuaded him to join in that war. Phoínix (Φοῖνιξ) had less influence on Achilleus (Ἀχιλλεύς), who decided on his own when he went to a battle and when not.
Phoínix (Φοῖνιξ) is cursed to be childless. So Phoinix is an indicator of male infertility. Phoínix (Φοῖνιξ) also was able to destroy a love affair of his father by seducing his father’s lover. So Phoinix also is an indicator of male seduction skills.
