Clorinde’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.34 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.08, a period of revolution of 1 307 days, and an inclination of 9.0 degrees. Clorinde was discovered by the French astronomer Auguste Honoré Pierre Charlois at the Nice Observatory (Observatoire de Nice) in southeastern France near the border with Italy.

Clorinde perhaps is named in French spelling after a fictional heroine from the epic poem Jerusalem Delivered (La Gerusalemme liberata) by Torquato Tasso (Italian 16th century poet). She is in Italian named Clorinda. She had been born in Ethiopia, was originally named Albina and a Mohammedan Muslim. She fought the christians during the first crusade.
