I watched another episode of the same documentary series. But I could watch it only partly. Some fun facts were presented. Then a Creationist, who claimed to be a biologist and to also have studied several other sciences, proceeded with outright lies and I thus got too much.

A fun fact is that the amount of existing species is unknown. Biologists estimate that between five-million and fifty-million species exist. So about forty-five-million species is unknown whether they exist. The Creationists brought this together with the further fun fact that a clear definition of what is life still doesn’t exist. This caused the impression that the amount of existing species is unknown because biologists wouldn’t know whether or not to acknowledge certain findings as alive and as species. A completely misleading impression! Species are unknown because areas like the deep sea still are unexplored and because new species can in every moment fork off from existing and only perhaps known species. That a clear definition of life doesn’t exist is only relevant for finding extraterrestrial life. Whether a phenomenon on Earth is caused by life or by a mere geochemical process is easier to decide and in case of a doubt would be decided by a DNA analysis.

Previously to the nature, which presently can be watched, a differing nature existed. The Creationists acknowledged this. But to be precise, a succession of different environments existed. So species adapted or got annihilated. The Creationist, who pretended to be a biologist, explained that these changes in nature would contradict the evolutionary paradigm. But these changes in nature in truth are not only in accordance with the evolutionary paradigm, they exactly match Darwin’s theory of evolution! Hence the original Creationists in Darwin’s time denied that any changes could ever take place in nature. Then in the light of more and more evidence, the Creationists themselves evolved! Now they bend and twist the theory of evolution into straw arguments and then falsify these straw arguments. The real rival of Creationism isn’t evolution, but honesty!
