Banno

Banno is asteroid #3394 and also known as 1986 DB. Banno was discovered by Inoda Shigeru (伊野田 繁) at Karasuyama, a town, which is now part of the city Nasukarasuyama. Banno’s orbit is characterized by a period of revolution of 1 290 days, a semi-major axis of 2.32 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.20, and an inclination of 7.1 degrees.

Banno is named after Banno Yoshiaki (番野 善明). He was a Japanese engineer and amateur astronomer. He was born in 1951, was the co-discoverer of only one asteroid (#4200 or Shizukagozen), and he died in 1991. Banno Yoshiaki (番野 善明) died of a traffic accident. Nothing else is known on him publicly. The name Banno (番野) means a guard in a rural area.

Because there are no further hints to its meaning, so Banno is an indicator of traffic accidents. Banno was named after the death of Banno Yoshiaki (番野 善明) and this is of course a precondition for Banno indicating traffic accidents. When major astrological factors hint to an accident, then it is Banno’s role to clarify that it is a traffic accident.
