Henan is asteroid #2085 and also known as 1965 YA. Henan was discovered at the Purple Mountain Observatory and is of the type L. Henan’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.70 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.09, a period of revolution of 1 622 days, and an inclination of 3.8 degrees. Henan is the head and parent body of the Hirayama-family Henan. This Hirayama-family can be further divided into four subfamilies, but these seem not to be named or further characterized. The type L is an unusual type, but common for the Hirayama-family Henan. Chekhov belongs to the Hirayama-family Henan.
The asteroid #2085 is named after the Chinese province Hénán (河南). The name of this province means south of the river and the river means the Yellow River. Hénán (河南) is a landlocked province with many heritage sites. Hence Hénán (河南) is counted as the midland, although already an adjacent province is also adjacent to the sea. Hénán (河南) is the largest of the central provinces. Hénán (河南) neighbours the provinces Shǎnxī (陕西), Shānxī (山西), Héběi (河北), Shāndōng (山东), Ānhuī (安徽), and Húběi (湖北).
Henan is a place name asteroid and hinting to the province Hénán (河南) in China. Maybe not to anything more because this place is already large. But Henan could also hint to places rich in history and sights. Henan should be able, maybe sometimes useful in horaries, to indicate locations south of a river.
