Ewen

Ewen is asteroid #50412 and also known as 2000 DG1. Ewen’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.69 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.08, a period of revolution of 1 611 days, and an inclination of 3.0 degrees. Ewen is a member of the Hirayama-family Henan. Ewen was discovered by the Hong-Kong-born Canadian amateur astronomer Bill Kwong Yu Yeung (William 楊 光 宇) at the Rock Finder Observatory.

Ewen is named after the Canadian amateur astronomer Harry Ewen. He was born in 1957, devotes his time to astronomical education for school kids around Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. He seems to have provided the telescope, which was used for discovering 2000 DG1. This pieces of information are from the official naming citation of the asteroid and nothing else seems to be publicly known on Harry Ewen.

The name Ewen can be Middle German and then mean law; eternity; or wedlock. But as a Canadian name it more likely is Middle English and then it is the plural form of ewe, which either is a female sheep or an alternative form of ew, which meanwhile is yew and has already denoted the same tree (Taxus baccata). So these are the keywords for the astrological interpretation of Ewen.
