Gottfried

Gottfried is asteroid #9507 and also known as 5447 T-2. Gottfried was discovered by the Palomar-Leiden Survey at the Palomar Observatory. Gottfried’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.34 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.23, a period of revolution of 1 308 days, and an inclination of 8.4 degrees.

Gottfried is named after a role in Richard Wagner’s opera Lohengrin. I already summarized the plot of the opera in my article on Telramund. Gottfried is the brother of Elsa and the heir to the throne of the dukedom Brabant. Gottfried had disappeared and Elsa was accused of having killed him.

Gottfried is a person name asteroid, that represents persons named Gottfried. There are probably only few asteroids, that are named after heirs of dukes, so Gottfried also represents heirs of dukes. Gottfried also represents people, who did disappear. Gottfried is most relevant in aspects with other astrological forces named after roles in Lohengrin or at least in Wagner’s operas.
