Lohengrin

Lohengrin is asteroid #9505 and also known as 4131 T-2. Lohengrin was discovered by the Dutch astronomers Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld, Cornelis Johannes van Houten, and Tom Gehrels in the course of the Palomar-Leiden survey at the Palomar Observatory. Lohengrin’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 3.07 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.23, a period of revolution of 1 965 days, and an inclination of 3.3 degrees.

Lohengrin is named after Lohengrin, the main character of Wagner’s opera Lohengrin. I summarized it in my article on Telramund. Lohengrin is the son of Parzival (Percival), who had been one of the Arthurian knights before he became the Grail King.

Lohengrin is a capable warrior and a stranger, who appears to rescue a maiden in need. Not very special so far. Lohengrin gains relevance when in aspects with other elements of the opera Lohengrin. He for example is known to Elsa by a dream. He tries to keep a secret, but fails in this. So Lohengrin alone can only be expected to indicate appearing suddenly and disappearing suddenly.
