Viracocha is asteroid #2738 and also known as 1940 EC. Viracocha was discovered by the Hungarian astronomer György Kulin at the Konkoly Observatory. Viracocha’s orbit is characterized by a period of revolution of 1 637 days, a semi-major axis of 2.72 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.12, and an inclination of 1.1 degrees.

Taguacipa is asteroid #2739 and also known 1952 UZ1. Taguacipa was discovered by Joseph L. Brady at the Mount Wilson Observatory. Taguacipa’s orbit is characterized by a period of revolution of 1 406 days, a semi-major axis of 2.46 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.13, and an inclination of 1.2 degrees.

Viracocha is named after the supreme god of the Inca and pan-Andean god Wiraqucha. Taguacipa is named after Wiraqucha’s companion, look-alike, and evil impersonator Taguacipa. Wiraqucha is also spelled Viracocha, Huiracocha or known as Tiqsi Huiracocha, Tiki, and Teisi. His original (Quechuan) and full name is Apu Kun Tiqsi Wiraqutra. He is the father of Mama Killa and of Inti. Everything else remains unclear. There are many versions about Wiraqucha’s other relatives or how he was involved in making humans. There are different opinions on how to translate his name. There are different opinions on how he looks like or on whether he was ever believed by anybody to be the creator of the universe. The case of Taguacipa is even worse because I can’t find anything else on him than the naming quotation of the asteroid (and the “sources” simply copying from there). Maybe he is usually known by a different name. But only a big coincidence could help to figure this out.

Viracocha and Taguacipa seem to be, when judging by what is really known on them, projections of christian missionaries on the Inca religion. When christian missionaries understood that many Incas didn’t grasp some concepts of the christian religion, then the christian missionaries didn’t think about whether they are teaching too difficult or too crazy stuff or simply some rubbish. The christian missionaries tried instead to use names from the Inca religion and turn Viracocha into the creator god and Taguacipa into a kind of Satan. Thus the christian missionaries tried to establish the dualism, which was a very foreign idea to all indigenous people of what is now Latin America. So Viracocha should show a projection of what is believed (by the horoscope owner most likely) to be good, while Taguacipa shows a projection of what is believed to be bad. Asteroids have the task to show intricacies. So meanings like these should be expected too.
