Destinn

Destinn is asteroid #6583 and also known as 1984 DE. Destinn was discovered by the Czech astronomer Antonín Mrkos at the Kleť Observatory. Destinn’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.66 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.10, a period of revolution of 1 585 days, and an inclination of 6.9 degrees. So Destinn is a common asteroid of the main section of the Asteroid Main Belt.

Destinn is named after the Czech opera singer Ema Destinová, who seems to be known as Ema Destinn in English. She lived from 1878 until 1930. The official naming citation calls her “one of the finest sopranos of the early twentieth century, particularly together with the excellent tenor of Enrico Caruso”.

Destinn represents Czech opera singers (there certainly are more asteroids named after opera singers), sopranos, and people named Destinová. I have a look at this asteroid here because I read the speculation that Destinn could represent your destiny. I must say that the speculation is ridiculous. I couldn’t figure out origin or meaning of the name Destinová, but this doesn’t mysteriously turn the name into an English word. The however most important reason why your destiny can’t be represented by an asteroid named after a Czech opera singer is that the asteroid was discovered in February of 1984 and can’t have been named before this date. All people casting a natal chart before this date shouldn’t have been able to know their destiny??? Although this is since millennia the very purpose of astrology? This simply is a too important topic for an asteroid. Hence this asteroid comprises at most the meanings in the first sentence of this paragraph.
