Sooner is asteroid #18876 and also known as 1999 XM. Sooner was discovered by the American astronomer James M. Roe at the Oaxaca Observatory. Sooner’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.41 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.24, a period of revolution of 1 370 days, and an inclination of 8.8 degrees.
The discoverer of Sooner chose this name in order to honour his alma mater, the University of Oklahoma. The athletic teams of this university are called the Oklahoma Sooners. This name is taken from history and refers to the Land Run of 1889, which initially opened the Unassigned Lands in the future state of Oklahoma to non-native settlement. A sooner is a person, who was settling in the early American west on land before this land was officially open to settlement.
Sooner seems to be exactly what it sounds like. The sooners, after whom this asteroid is named, were too early if history would have went well-ordered. History of course never goes well-ordered. It doesn’t stick to a schedule, at least not to a man-made schedule. The asteroid astrologer will, at least at some time in the future, be able to forecast whether something happens on time, too late, or too soon. TARDIS shows to be late, Sooner is TARDIS’ opposing astrological force and shows to be too soon.
