NOT is asteroid #2857 and also known as 1942 DA. NOT is of the type T. NOT’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.40 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.09, a period of revolution of 1 359 days, and an inclination of 5.7 degrees. NOT was discovered by the Finnish astronomer Liisi Oterma at the Iso-Heikkilä Observatory in Turku, Finland.

NOT is named after the Nordic Optical Telescope, which is one of the telescopes located on the Roque de los Muchachos. This makes NOT an inferior of the asteroid Muchachos. When astronomers produce acronyms, then they usually do this with intention. For example the name of the Overwhelmingly Large Telescope sounds very arbitrary and its abbreviation OWL looks even more arbitrary. The owl is a bird with large eyes and this association was intended. Another example is the Five-Hundred Meters Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope, which is abbreviated as FAST. The abbreviation skips two of the words in the name, while the name contains words, which are usually not in the name of a telescope because that for example the aperture is meant with the size is obvious for astronomers. So the name also was arbitrarily chosen for producing the acronym FAST. So the acronym NOT most likely was chosen with intention, too.

The word ‘not’ indicates a negation. When ‘not’ is written all capitalized, then it most times denotes a logical circuit, which changes the value of a Bit into its opposite. (From 0 to 1, or from 1 to 0.) So you could presume that the asteroid NOT changes astrological forecasts or similar astrological statements into their opposites. But then the asteroid NOT would be a major nuisance to all astrologers, who don’t consider asteroids. This means the majority of astrologers. They would often state the exact opposite of what the astrological chart tells and wouldn’t know why. Thus the asteroid NOT would help skeptics to debunk astrology. But if astrology could be debunked, then asteroid astrology would be invalid, too, and hence NOT couldn’t help to do this. So the asteroid NOT can’t alter the statements of any astrological chart. NOT only can represent logical NOT circuits and predict that expected answers will be negative.
