Echo is asteroid #60 and also known as A899 EB. Echo’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.39 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.18, a period of revolution of 1 353 days, and an inclination of 3.6 degrees. Echo was discovered by the Scottish-born American astronomer James Ferguson at the United States Naval Observatory in Washington D.C. It was his third and last asteroid discovery.

Echo was by the discoverer named Titania because he wasn’t aware that the natural satellite Uranus III already was named Titania. Uranus III is the largest of the twenty-seven known moons of Uranus and the eighth-largest of all known moons in the Solar System. So asteroid #60 was renamed to Echo after Ēchṓ (Ἠχώ) from Greek mythology. Ēchṓ (Ἠχώ) was an Oread or mountain nymph. Zeus gave her the mission to tell stories to Hera, so that Hera wouldn’t have time to chase Zeus, when he was with his extramarital lovers. Hera was full of mistrust, so understood the ruse and punished Ēchṓ (Ἠχώ) by limiting her ability to speak. She could from then on only repeat the last words, which were spoken to her. Another day Ēchṓ (Ἠχώ) saw Narcissus and fell in love with him. She tried to speak with him and tried to hug him, but Narcissus wasn’t pleased. Like many other men, too, Narcissus wasn’t exclusively interested in a girl’s outer appearance. But as soon as you find such a guy, your ability to speak is limited. Ēchṓ (Ἠχώ) was lovelorn. She did neither eat nor do anything anymore. She faded away until only her voice and her bones were left and these bones then became a rock. Thus Ēchṓ (Ἠχώ) became the phenomenon of the echo.

The astrological force Echo indicates that something has to be repeated. For example because of a mistake like the naming of the asteroid. Harmonious aspects to Echo show that a mistake gets corrected, while hard aspects to Echo show that the correction of a mistake is an urgent necessity.
