Halawe

Halawe is asteroid #518 and also known as 1903 MO. Halawe’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.53 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.23, a period of revolution of 1 472 days, and an inclination of 6.7 degrees. Halawe was discovered by the American astronomer Raymond Smith Dugan at the Heidelberg-Königstuhl State Observatory (Landessternwarte Heidelberg-Königstuhl), where and while Raymond Smith Dugan made his Ph.D.

Halawe is (like for example the asteroid Takoyaki, too) a food-themed asteroid. Halawe is named after the Middle Eastern confectionery halva. This shall have been the asteroid discoverer’s favorite confectionery.
