Endate is asteroid #4282 and also known as 1987 UQ1. Endate was discovered by the Japanese astronomers Ueda Seiji (上田 清二) and Kaneda Hiroshi (金田 宏) at Kushiro, Hokkaidō, Japan. Endate’s orbit is characterized by a semi-major axis of 2.39 Astronomical Units, an eccentricity of 0.15, a period of revolution of 1 352 days, and an inclination of 2.7 degrees. So Endate is a boring Main Belt Asteroid.
Endate is named after Endate Kin (円館 金), a Japanese amateur astronomer, astrophotographer, and very prolific discoverer of minor planets. Most of his asteroid discoveries were made in collaboration with Watanabe Kazurō (渡辺 和郎). Examples for the discoveries of Endate Kin (円館 金) are Kodaira (#6500), Mizusawa (#7530), and Nasu (#11323).
The name Endate consists of the components tate (館), which means residence, manor, small castle, and en (円), which means circle (especially to describe the shape of a coin), sphere; or the Japanese Yen. The name Kin consists only of the word kin (金), which means gold; metal; or cash, but can also be the Korean surname Kim.
Searching for Endate immediately brings Endate Kin (円館 金) as the only result, which really fits to the search. Endate’s core purpose is to hint to people named Endate because the asteroid #4282 is a real person name asteroid. But the name seems to be very exceptional. It is most likely a Korean name and some people, not aware that Korean names put just like Japanese names the family-name first, made too many reversals until the personal name Endate was believed to be a family-name. The name is meant like a magical spell with the intention to make the named person wealthy and prosperous. So Endate hints to wealthy and prosperous people as well as to the wish to become rich. Endate also hints to photographers and especially astrophotographers.
